Is it possible to extend eyelashes after laser correction?

And now you leave the beauty salon, feeling confident and well-groomed, with a languid, expressive look that eyelash extensions give. There is nothing better than this wonderful feeling when, after skincare and cosmetic procedures, you feel renewed, light and satisfied. But, as they say, nothing lasts forever under the sun. And eyelash extensions require proper correction over time in order to remain as lush, neat and thick as immediately after the extension procedure.

Let's figure out when it's time for eyelash correction after extensions, how the procedure goes and how much eyelash correction costs.

Advantages and disadvantages of eyelash extensions

Eyelash extensions have recently become one of the most frequently used procedures to improve the appearance of girls and women of different ages. This article is devoted to its description, necessary preparatory measures, precautions and contraindications for carrying out. We will also answer frequently asked questions, including about the possibility of performing extensions during menstruation, and give various tips.

Advantages of eyelash extensions:

  • the depth and mystery of the look changes;
  • the shape of the eyes is corrected;
  • there is no weighting of the eyelids;
  • eyelashes hold tightly and reliably;
  • you can use the sauna, swimming pool, go sunbathing on the beach or visit the gym;
  • Eyelash extensions do not require coloring or curling, and they still look great.

The disadvantages of the procedure include:

  • quite high cost;
  • short time of use;
  • the need for corrective measures;
  • difficulty in selecting makeup removers (water-based only).

When not to have eyelash extensions

Eyelash extensions are a cosmetic procedure that has a number of features.

These include the following contraindications:

  1. Any infectious and other eye diseases, which include eyelash mites, conjunctivitis, stye, etc. Please note that these are conditions when eyelash extensions cannot be applied.
  2. Skin diseases such as psoriasis or dermatitis.
  3. Presence of asthma. The adhesive composition can trigger an asthma attack.
  4. Allergic reactions in the past. Despite the hypoallergenic nature of the materials, the glue can cause allergies.

In addition, it should be borne in mind that certain actions, conditions and diseases can affect the duration of wearing eyelash extensions:

  1. Changes in hormonal levels caused by breastfeeding, taking oral contraceptives, pregnancy, or simply an unstable menstrual cycle. The reason lies in the effect hormones have on both the eyelashes themselves and the process of their growth and restoration.
  2. Drug therapy with antibiotics.
  3. Drinking alcoholic beverages.
  4. Dyeing eyelashes less than three days ago, because a kind of paint film appears on them, as a result of which the glue will not be able to hold the eyelash extensions on natural ones. For better fixation, a porous structure of the hairs is necessary; a smooth structure is not suitable for glue. The latter may appear due to coloring, but girls with natural smooth eyelashes are often found. Unfortunately, their hair extensions quickly fall off.
  5. High oil content of the eyelid skin or the use of oily care products, since any fat can quickly destroy the adhesive layer. The instant glue used is quite resistant to oils, but the eyelashes will still hold on less well.
  6. Increased tear production due to eye sensitivity. For the duration of preservation of eyelash extensions, the speed of the crystallization process of the glue during the procedure is important, and it is greatly influenced by the tear fluid, which erodes the glue.

Eyelash extension technology when wearing lenses

When carrying out the eyelash extension procedure, you need, firstly, materials - glue, artificial eyelashes, and secondly, a professional, highly qualified specialist. The process itself has several options:

  • Classic extensions involve attaching lashes one by one to a natural one.
  • 2D and 3D extensions involve creating eyelash volume and require attaching two and three eyelashes, respectively, to each natural one.

Greater thickness is not done due to the inconvenience of wearing such eyelashes every day.

Let's look at the extension procedure itself in more detail. First, carefully and thoroughly clean the skin around the eyes and the hairs themselves from cosmetics and fatty film. This will help the glue to harden quickly and reliably and then polymerize.

Colorless glue is used for classic eyelash extensions. It is practically invisible, which helps to avoid making your eyes look heavier. Most of these products are hypoallergenic, which makes it possible to use them for allergy sufferers and clients with any eye problems.

For volumetric extensions, black glue is used. It helps balance the volume of the eyelashes and the contour of the eyes, outlining them with a black line - eyeliner. The basis of this product is resin. It can cause an allergic reaction, so this glue should be used with caution. But black glue also has a positive quality - greater strength, as well as the absence of toxic substances in it.

Possible side effects after extensions

The American Academy of Ophthalmology, based on its reports, which indicated a number of cases where eyelash extensions had a negative impact on human health, published a list of consequences and risks. These include swelling of the eyelids, infections of the cornea and eyelid, and possible loss of natural eyelashes (permanent or temporary).

Complications such as reactions to the tape holding the eyelashes during the procedure, eyelid injuries resulting from exposure to forceps (extension tools), allergic and other reactions to solutions and glue have become slightly less common.

In addition, it is worth noting the reactions that practitioners pay attention to. This:

  1. Irritation of the eyes and skin around them. The extension procedure can lead to irritation of the cornea of the eye with the occurrence of keratitis and the conjunctiva with the appearance of conjunctivitis. Such manifestations are possible due to contact with the components of the glue and the false eyelashes themselves. Irritation appears several hours after the procedure and cannot be prevented.
  2. Erosion inside the eyelids. Risks associated with eyelid extensions also include erosion of the eyelid surface from the inside. Unfortunately, this reaction can damage natural eyelashes temporarily or permanently. Moreover, the cost of the eyelashes used does not matter at all. It can be called by both single and budget copies.
  3. Infection with pathogenic bacteria and viruses. The desire to take care of eyelash extensions helps to retain dirt and bacteria on them and the skin of the eyelids, and their presence leads to infection of the eyes. Ophthalmologists quite often register young ladies with serious eye infections that arise after the extension procedure. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the first symptom of infection – redness of the eye or the skin around it.
  4. Dry eye syndrome.
    You should also pay attention to statements from ophthalmologists that eyelash extensions can cause pain in the eyes. For each person, the length of eyelashes is determined by nature as optimal for protection from dust, debris or wind. Previous studies on animals confirmed that their length should be equal to a third of the width of the eye.

    After extensions, the eyelashes lengthen, as a result, the eye begins to be blown with a large air flow (like a fan), which dries it out, causing the appearance of a dry eye effect.

  5. Alopecia of the eyelids. The most dangerous extensions are for girls with weak, thin eyelashes.
    They are ill-suited to hold such weight and may begin to fall out. However, women with strong natural eyelashes should also be wary of their loss. Please note that the English Optometrists Association warns that alopecia may occur with repeated eyelash extensions. The fact is that natural hairs are overly strained during their extension and may fall out. This leads to damage to the eyelash bulb, as a result of which the hair stops growing or its growth slows down significantly.
  6. Demodex. This is a hair mite that parasitizes the skin and hair follicles.
    It likes to settle in thick artificial eyelashes that are difficult to clean, and at the base of the villi next to the follicle. Feeds on epithelium. With its appearance, the inflammatory process around the eyelash follicles begins to gradually grow. Antibiotics will help get rid of demodex. Demodex is introduced most often in those beauty salons where they do not carefully monitor the cleanliness of the instruments used for eyelash extensions. Or where eyelashes are not thoroughly cleaned of makeup before the extension procedure.

Caring for eyelashes after extensions while wearing contact lenses

When extending eyelashes while using contact lenses, you should take precautions. But not only during the procedure. Every day you need to properly care for your eyelashes. Otherwise, they may quickly crumble or inflammation of the eyes may occur.

To prevent this, the following rules should be observed:

  • Carefully and carefully remove/put on lenses.

The use of lenses requires their periodic removal. This requires contact with the eyelids and eyelashes. As a result, eye irritation may occur. In addition, damage to the adhesive base and eyelashes may occur, which will reduce their wear time and reduce the beauty of the hairs.

  • Use mild formulations for washing and storing contact lenses.

They will erode the glue to a lesser extent, getting on the eyelashes when putting on lenses. In this case, the hair extensions will last longer.

  • Reduce contact of eyes and eyelashes with water.

Both the first wash and the first putting on of contact lenses can be done no earlier than 24 hours after the extension procedure. During this time, the glue on which the artificial eyelashes are attached will completely dry and harden. Otherwise, the hairs will move or simply fall off.

  • Use only certain cosmetics.

It is prohibited to use any cosmetic products that contain oils. Serum cannot be used. When it gets on the eyelashes, it will dissolve the glue and they will begin to fall off, forming bald spots.

  • Do not apply mascara.

Eyelashes look quite impressive without it. And when it gets into the eyes, the waterproof composition has a bad effect on their condition under the lenses and helps to reduce the lifespan of the eyelashes.

  • Take special care of your eyes.

Be sure to remove your contact lenses before going to bed. In this way, unpleasant inflammatory reactions can be avoided. Any negative sensations, redness, burning or itching, or swelling of the eyes require removing the lenses and contacting an ophthalmologist. In this case, the doctor must be informed about the wearing of eyelash extensions.

You cannot remove eyelashes yourself using drops or solutions sold in stores. This should only be done by a specialist. Otherwise, it will be difficult to avoid irreversible processes in natural hairs.

The period after laser correction

Mascara and any other eye makeup should not be applied for a month after the procedure to avoid complications that may arise in the area and affect the recovery process or cause injury during rinsing. This also applies to eye shadow and eyeliner both inside and outside the lash line.

For facial makeup, you can apply foundation two days after surgery, but it is recommended that you avoid powder foundations such as bronzer for up to five days.

The use of eye cream should be avoided for two weeks, and any other products used near the eye area, such as face lotions, should be applied with great care.

Recommendations for eye care after laser correction:

  • When removing makeup, do not rub or use excessive force, especially around the eyes. This should be done very gently because the eyes will still be sensitive after surgery.
  • Makeup products may contain bacteria, so to avoid infection, it is recommended to replace old makeup and brushes with new ones after surgery.
  • You shouldn't wear waterproof mascara - it's much harder to wash off, which increases the chances of harming your eyes.
  • As an option, you can think about tinting your eyelashes before the procedure.

During the consultation, eyelash extensions may remain. However, they will need to be removed a week before surgery and not reapplied until 8 weeks after. Artificial strips of false eyelashes can be reapplied after 4 weeks. How to apply makeup after eyelash extensions

Most girls prefer extensions precisely because they do not want to spend a single minute on makeup. But when some event is coming up, the question arises about applying shadows, drawing arrows and applying a base. All this does not harm the eyelashes, and you can continue to experiment with the look. But you need to remember that mascara is definitely not needed in this matter, and you will only need to wash off the products after the holiday using a cotton pad and makeup remover. You will have to give up washing with soap.

Eyelash extensions during menstruation

This worries most girls who want to get eyelash extensions.

However, some of them believe that these are completely unrelated processes. However, some doctors and professionals warn clients not to get eyelash extensions while their period is over, but should take a few more days before their period begins.

It is worth listening to them, because in a woman’s body during this period there is a change in hormonal levels, which leads to changes in metabolism, as well as in the functioning of organs and endocrine glands.

When predicting the development of consequences after eyelash extensions during menstruation, professional experts point to:

  • a high probability of allergic reactions to both artificial hairs and the adhesive composition;
  • shorter duration of eyelash use;
  • low reliability of material fastening;
  • the likelihood of alopecia of eyelashes due to their high fragility.

At the same time, there are specialists who, not paying attention to doctors’ warnings, carry out procedures and do not inform clients about these risks.

Doctors' opinion on whether eyelash extensions and lenses are compatible

Contact lenses are a convenient and comfortable product for vision correction for people with a wide variety of refractive errors. They have a number of advantages over glasses, but are intended for the same purposes. Lenses make it possible to make central and lateral vision clearer without distorting the image of objects. At the same time, they give freedom of movement and also allow you to avoid discomfort and squeezing the bridge of the nose.

Basic Rules

The first 24 hours after the procedure are of great importance for maintaining a good result for a long time. First of all, it is important to completely prevent moisture from getting on your eyelash extensions. This will allow the glue used to polymerize well. As a result, reliable adhesion between synthetic hairs and natural eyelashes is ensured.

In addition, in order for the eyelash extension to remain in good condition for a long time, you need to get rid of the habit of rubbing your eyes. Other important recommendations:

  • Sleeping on your back is also good for your posture.
  • Avoid using traditional mascara.
  • Avoid using greasy creams or oils to care for the area around the eyes.
  • Refusal to visit the bathhouse and sauna.

Caring for eyelash extensions involves brushing them regularly with a special brush. As a rule, it is presented as a gift in a beauty salon after the procedure. You are allowed to wash your face with clean water every day. But after any water procedures, the eyelashes should dry naturally; excess moisture can be removed with a soft cloth.

Makeup with eyelash extensions is contraindicated. The oil contained in the mascara impairs adhesion and provokes premature loss of glued synthetic hairs. In rare cases, water-based cosmetics can be used to add brightness.

Since natural eyelashes fall out gradually, the effect of expressiveness around the eye frame deteriorates over time. Therefore, adjustments need to be made periodically. But constant additional stress on natural eyelashes leads to a deterioration in their condition. Therefore, at least once every six months, they need a rest for 3-4 weeks. During this period, it is necessary to strengthen the eyelash row with special fortified natural oils.

How is the eyelash correction procedure performed?

Some lash makers believe that the correction procedure is even more painstaking and complex than the eyelash extension procedure. It’s hard to imagine, but not all hair extension specialists, especially beginners, undertake correction. Our salon, fortunately, selects specialists very seriously and thoughtfully, so our specialists have all the skills and qualifications to carry out the full range of procedures, including eyelash correction. The correction takes place in several stages:

  • The master assesses the condition of the eyelashes, combs them;
  • Very carefully, only those eyelashes that need to be removed and replaced will be treated with a special product: these are damaged eyelashes, eyelashes with creases, as well as eyelashes that have lost their original appearance.
  • The technician will carefully remove the eyelashes using tweezers;
  • Next, your natural eyelashes are treated with a special composition, to which artificial eyelashes will be attached;
  • The technician attaches the eyelashes, making sure that the previously extended eyelashes and the “new” eyelashes look the same and create a neat row of beautiful, thick, bright eyelashes.

Rules for wearing and caring for eyelash extensions

  • Do not use skincare products containing oils and fatty acids, or be careful not to get cream or milk on your eyelashes. Contact with a greasy product will cause eyelash extensions to fall out;
  • Don’t have three eyes, wash your face carefully with warm water;
  • Dry your face carefully with a towel after showering and washing. However, this rule also applies to those who do not get eyelash extensions;
  • Under no circumstances should you pull out your eyelashes yourself, even if you notice they are falling out. The artificial eyelash is attached to the natural eyelash using a special glue, so if you try to pull it out, you will damage your eyelashes. Needless to say, it won't look very good;
  • Comb your eyelashes daily with a special brush;
  • You shouldn’t limit your movements or constantly focus on your eyelashes, but you still shouldn’t sleep on your stomach with your face in the pillow.

How much does eyelash extension correction cost?

The price of eyelash correction depends on the volume of eyelashes you have done and the cost of extensions. It is worth noting that eyelash correction is best done by the specialist who performed the extensions. This reduces the risk of receiving poor-quality work in the end. In our salon you can make an appointment with any lash maker for correction, since we only employ highly qualified professionals who have extensive experience in eyelash extensions and correction.

In our salon, the cost of eyelash correction starts from 1000 rubles.

Criteria for choosing a professional lash maker

The choice of specialists who perform eyelash extensions - lash makers - is quite large. However, professionals do not recommend performing the procedure at home. Firstly, it is difficult to comply with all sanitary requirements at home. And secondly, if an allergic reaction occurs, the master will not be able to provide proper assistance to his client.

The search for a good specialist leads young ladies to social networks, where there are a large number of offers for the provision of inexpensive services delivered to your home. However, you should not rely on quality work done by such craftsmen. Let's take a better look at the criteria that need to be followed when choosing a specialist.

  • Equipped workspace.

You should not agree to eyelash extensions on the couch with tools of unknown origin. The minimum requirements are a clean room, sterilized equipment, a disposable set of linen (towels, napkins, sheets, etc.), high-quality patches, brushes, etc.

  • Certificates and certificates of the master.

If you have any doubts about professionalism, you should ask the master to present identification and certificates, as well as a diploma from the school of lash makers. Most often, specialists themselves are happy to familiarize clients with such information by posting it on the Internet or hanging it on the wall in the office.

  • Price of the procedure.

It should be understood that high-quality extensions from an experienced specialist cannot cost significantly less than the average market price. It ranges from 2,000 to 5,000 rubles. You shouldn't skimp on your health. To become a professional, a specialist must spend a lot of effort and money, so he is unlikely to work for less money.

  • Works and reviews of them.

You should definitely read the specialist’s works and reviews about him. There is no point in going into details, because without sufficient knowledge, it is difficult to distinguish high quality from low.

  • Master's honesty.

A professional will definitely choose the right words and dissuade his client from risky experiments like long and lush eyelashes “like Hollywood beauties.” Having a good sense of taste, the master will select the most suitable option, creating a unique image.

  • Duration of extension.

It takes a lot of time to carry out the extension procedure for 300 or 400 eyelashes. High-quality work requires 2–2.5 hours. A good master does everything slowly and with full dedication. This is truly a piece of jewelry, the result of which should be flawless eyelashes.

What to choose: new extensions or correction?

This decision is made by the master; he approaches each of his clients individually; for some, eyelash correction will be enough, while other fashionistas will have to undergo a repeat extension procedure. Each of these two cases has its pros and cons:

  • Correcting eyelash extensions is cheaper than having them re-extended.
  • In terms of the duration of the procedure, the extension lasts longer.
  • After correction, you will need to meet with the specialist again after three weeks, while after extensions you do not need to resort to his services for 2 months.
  • During correction, it is possible to select eyelashes that are identical in appearance and structure to those previously glued.

Correction is not done only in case of severe loss of natural hairs and the use of 3D extensions.

Tips to help you learn more about eyelash extension correction:

Why do eyelashes fall out and when is it time for correction?

In general, this phenomenon is normal. The fact is that eyelashes, like eyebrows and hair on the head, grow constantly, albeit slowly. Therefore, over time, eyelashes are renewed and fall out. The process does not stop after the extension procedure. Only in this case does your own eyelash fall out along with the extension or several extensions. When you have your own eyelashes and do not have extensions, it can be difficult to notice their loss: they are faded, thinner and softer. Besides, you hardly follow it if you don’t do extensions.

It is normal to lose several eyelashes per day. If your eyelashes are falling out in large numbers, this is a reason to contact your specialist, understand what the reason is, and also possibly visit an ophthalmologist.

This can happen for several reasons:

  • Hormonal problems. It would be more accurate to say, not only problems, but also natural changes due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, and changes in life. In this case, the eyelashes may be oilier, which reduces the wear time of eyelash extensions, and may also fall out more often than usual.
  • Incorrect care. We'll tell you how to wear eyelashes correctly below.

How long does it take to correct? It is optimal to do eyelash correction in about 3-4 weeks. Skin type and quality of wear and eyelash care play a role here. If you have dry skin and are careful with your eyelash extensions, the wear time before correction will increase.

How to understand that poor-quality extensions have been done

To determine the low quality of eyelash extensions, you should pay attention to:

  • The roughness of the hairs, which should be smooth and soft to the touch, as well as the presence of lumps on them.
  • The sloppy appearance of the eyelashes (they look disheveled) and their unnatural bend.
  • The base in which the eyelashes are glued. They should be located at a distance of 0.5 mm from the skin of the eyelid, and not be planted on it. Otherwise, the hairs will last no more than a couple of days.
  • Gluing the eyelashes together. This is very harmful to the health of natural eyelashes.

If in doubt, be sure to voice your concerns to the specialist before the procedure. He will explain everything, talk about contraindications and possible consequences of the event. Together you will assess the risks directly to your health and select the best option.

Correction of eyelash extensions

Why do my eyelash extensions fall out?

Do not think that the extension procedure will somehow speed up the process of eyelash loss. In any case, competently performed extensions will not affect the condition of your own eyelashes in any way. But falling out cannot be avoided. The fact is that normally eyelashes live from 30 to 50 days, after which they die and fall out, thank God, not all at once, but one by one. Thus, after 3-4 weeks, on average, half of the eyelashes have time to fall out. And this is the case if you didn’t misbehave)) and didn’t violate the rules of wearing. Otherwise, the “decay” of eyelashes will be more active.

Rules for wearing eyelash extensions

  • Avoid contact with water for the first 24 hours. Wash your face carefully so as not to wet your eyelashes.
  • Avoid mechanical influences. Don't rub your eyes or wear sleep masks.
  • Do not use mascara on your eyelash extensions. This can also damage them.
  • Avoid contact with oil-based products. Most facial creams and oils are dangerous for your eyelash extensions. They dissolve the glue.
  • Remove eyelashes only with professional means from a specialist. It is impossible to remove eyelash extensions using conventional means. This will damage your eyes and eyelashes.
  • Take care of your eyelashes with a special brush. It is necessary to comb your eyelash extensions daily. Otherwise, they get tangled, quickly lose their attractive appearance and fall out.

Correction or new extension?

This decision is best made together with the master. She should look at how many eyelashes “survived”, what condition the remaining eyelash extensions are in, and if at least half of them are “vigorous and cheerful”, then correction can be limited. As a rule, 3-4 weeks after eyelash extensions of any volume can be corrected without any problems. And again, as a rule, after 1.5-2 months, when several of the most “steadfast tin soldiers” remain before our eyes, there is nothing left to correct. By this time, the remnants have grown back and stick out so much that leaving them is pointless.

In any case, the decision is always individual. For example, for clients with very oily skin, it is better not to do any correction at all. The fact is that it is impossible to rinse eyelash extensions properly and during wear, sebum and scales accumulate between them. When sebum secretion is very active, then by the end of the first month too much organic matter accumulates and if the eyelashes are not removed and washed thoroughly, the whole thing can become infected and inflamed. In addition, blockage of the base of the follicles leads to the premature death of young and vibrant eyelashes. Therefore, we recommend that such clients wear their eyelashes for a month and a half and re-extend them.

Correction for correction

Some clients think that correction can be done every three to four weeks. This is wrong. Already with the second correction, a hygienic problem may arise, precisely because scales and fat, which by this time have accumulated for two months, can lead to inflammation. We do not make corrections for such clients.

How does the correction happen?

Let’s dispel the biggest myth that has become established among lash maker clients that correction is the simplest process when the master only needs to add a few eyelashes where they have fallen off. This is wrong. Where they have fallen off it is no longer possible to glue them, there is simply nothing to do. Eyelash extensions fall out along with your own when they become obsolete. And the master sees a motley picture of the eye, where several eyelashes have grown a little and stand out slightly in the crowd of others, a few more eyelashes (which were glued to the youngest and actively growing ones) have grown out so that it is no longer possible to leave them, and a few more have become twisted and look who goes where. And besides, over the last three weeks, new young eyelashes have grown, without any extensions. After diagnosing and determining the “scale of the tragedy,” you need to remove those that have grown too much or become crooked. This is a painstaking process when the master uses tweezers to select each “rejected” eyelash and applies a special gel to it. After five minutes, removes eyelashes, applies degreaser, primer and re-extends eyelashes where necessary.

Time? Money?

Despite the complexity of the procedure, the correction takes a little less time. Depending on the volume, you will save from 15 to 30-45 minutes. The cost is about a third of the price of the extension. We charge 500 rubles less for correction than the cost of an extension of the same volume. Come, we’ll correct, or maybe even re-extend your eyelashes)

double volume correction classic correction eyelash extension correction triple volume correction

Why do eyelash correction?

This mandatory procedure is associated with eyelash growth. On average, their hairs are renewed every three months, then they fall out imperceptibly; they fall off en masse only in the case of a serious illness. As soon as the eyelash leaves its place, a new hair soon appears on it, this happens regularly.

Usually extensions are carried out only on the upper eyelashes, but the lower ones are left aside in most cases, although they can also be made artificially thicker, but their wear period is only a week, so few are interested in this.

The duration of wear of the upper hair extensions depends on the growth of the real ones. If there are only 50-100 of them on the lower eyelid, then on the upper eyelid the number is twice as large. The length of the hairs is not the same: some can grow only 6 mm, while others reach 15. Such variation leads to conditional growth?
