Permanent makeup: care, contraindications (+audio)

Types of eyelid tattooing

There are 3 types of procedures, which are selected by the cosmetologist individually for each patient:

  • Interlash application. The space under the skin next to each eyelash of the eyelid is filled. The technique can be performed for both the upper and lower eyelids. The effect after the procedure occurs instantly, the effect lasts for many years. During the procedure, the cosmetologist must take into account the individual parameters of the patient’s eyes. After completing the method and skin care, you can additionally apply makeup, then the effect of lush eyelashes will be created.
  • Arrow. In this case, the pigment is also applied to the area under the skin, but is done in the form of a drawn arrow above the eyelashes, which a woman could apply herself. Unlike temporary makeup, such arrows will be long-term; there is no need to apply cosmetics daily.
  • Additional shading. The same technique for applying pigment is used, but the effect is created as after shading makeup. After completion of the procedure, the eyes will look impressive and expressive.

Types of eyelid tattooing
The type of tattoo is chosen by the patient herself. It depends on preferences, purposes of use and taste.

For whom is permanent makeup contraindicated?

There are absolute and relative contraindications for permanent makeup. Here are the main ones:

  • Blood clotting disorder;
  • Taking blood thinning medications;
  • Diseases of the blood and hematopoietic organs;
  • HIV;
  • Weakened immunity;
  • Autoimmune diseases;
  • Epilepsy;
  • If chemotherapy is due;
  • Diabetes mellitus (however, the procedure is possible for compensated diabetes in stable remission);
  • High blood pressure;
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • Acute bacterial diseases;
  • Any viral diseases;
  • Age up to 18 years (but in case of urgent need, PM is possible with the permission of parents and in their presence from 16 years old).

How to make a tattoo

The eyelid tattooing procedure is carried out in several stages:

  1. cleansing the skin surface in the place where the pigment will be applied under the skin;
  2. prescribing an anesthetic, which is used only locally to numb the area where the pigment is applied (this should be done carefully, since contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes causes side effects);
  3. the procedure itself is performed, during which the cosmetologist uses a small needle to apply pigment under the skin of the eyelids (it must be stretched so that the substance gets into all the folds and no empty sections are formed);
  4. reapplying the anesthetic so that the patient does not feel pain immediately after the procedure is completed;
  5. application of a drug that promotes increased regeneration, for example, Solcoseryl (eyelids heal faster).

After the procedure, you need to find out from the cosmetologist how to go through the healing period so that inflammation or bacterial infection does not form.

Eye tattoo methods

There are several types of permanent makeup. This helps hide some flaws and highlight advantages. Before applying long-lasting makeup, do the usual. This way the client has the opportunity to look at the future result. Here are the most effective methods for tattooing your eyelids:

  1. In the form of continuous lines - an arrow. This is the most common type of tattoo. The arrows can be long, medium or start from the center of the eyelid. They allow you to change the shape and shape of your eyes. To create the effect of wide-spaced eyes, make arrows along the outer edge. Everyone chooses the width of the lines individually. Some people like fine lines, while others prefer thick or feathered lines.
  2. Interciliary application technique. It effectively emphasizes the eyes and allows you not to look provocative. Most suitable for blondes. The dye is injected into the spaces between the eyelashes. After this, they appear thicker and the eyes larger. Sometimes this technique is combined with a thin arrow in the form of eyeliner.
  3. With a shading effect. Gives a natural and expressive look. Made with pigments close to natural shades. Brown-eyed beauties choose warm brown tones. Shading gives naturalness.
  4. In the form of eyeliner. It is usually done in shades close to the color of the iris. This allows you to enlarge your eyes and make them deeper. True, with this technique the paint does not last as long as the black pigment.

Rules of care after eyelid tattooing

After the procedure, it is necessary to follow a number of important rules that prevent complications and promote rapid tissue restoration:

  • on the first day after the procedure, you should not wash your face, even with plain water;
  • on the second and subsequent days, you can use cool water to wash your face; it is not recommended to use chemicals;
  • after washing, you should not wipe your eyes with a towel to prevent the removal of pigment; they must dry on their own;
  • With the permission of a doctor or cosmetologist, apply a moisturizer specifically designed for post-tattoo care.

Rules of care after eyelid tattooing
Ointment for tissue healing is applied every few hours in the first days after the procedure. Gradually this time is reduced. After one week, you can use the ointment 2 times a day. This is done in order to prevent dry eyes, which can cause crusts and cracking of the skin.

Care for permanent eyebrow makeup

The procedure itself is carried out in the upper layers of the skin, so there is virtually no swelling. The eyebrows will look unusually bright, but do not rush to panic: after healing, the pigment loses saturation by 30-50%. On the second or third day, a crust (scab) appears - the body’s natural reaction to damage to the epidermis. This natural barrier consists of dye and lymph (ichor): the thicker it is, the longer the regeneration. That is why the released liquid must be removed in a timely manner.

From about the fifth day, the crust begins to peel off at the edges, and completely disappears after one to two weeks. Complete restoration of the skin takes a month, after which the PM area acquires a natural, established shade.

eyebrows after tattoo

Eyebrow care after permanent makeup includes two main steps.

  • Antiseptic treatment. Moisten a cotton pad with Chlorhexidine or Miramistin and gently blot the area of the brow ridges without unnecessary friction, strictly according to hair growth. On the first day, use the product every 2 hours, in the next three days - in the morning, afternoon and evening.

IMPORTANT! Under no circumstances should you replace the antiseptic solution with hydrogen peroxide.

  • Lubrication with regenerating creams/ointments. From the second day, the correction area must be moisturized with professional or pharmacy products. Most often, specialists recommend Bepanten, D-Panthenol, Hydrocortisone, cosmetic Vaseline: they reduce discomfort and accelerate the healing of the epidermis. Apply a thin layer using a cotton swab.

IMPORTANT! Some tattoo specialists prohibit clients from using healing products. Take the time to clarify this issue with your specialist and under no circumstances prescribe them to yourself.

Pharmacy drugs

To prevent complications after the procedure, it is recommended to use the following medications:

  • Etonium is an antiseptic that helps eliminate bacteria in the area of application, acts gently and does not dry out the skin;
  • ointment based on hydrocortisone - contains an anti-inflammatory hormonal agent, the drug is applied topically, it helps eliminate the inflammatory effect and moisturize the skin (due to the presence of excipients);
  • Tetracycline ointment is a broad-spectrum antibiotic intended to prevent the development of infection and its spread into deep tissues after the procedure.

All medications must be applied in strict dosages. Some of them may cause side effects if used incorrectly. Since the drugs are used only locally, systemic adverse reactions are rare.

Is permanent makeup correction necessary?

Yes, it is required, because permanent makeup is a two-step procedure. It happens that after the first stage everything goes well and evenly, but this is rare. Be sure to visit the specialist after a month: this is not an attempt to extract additional money from the client, this is a need to correct those rough edges that only a specialist can now see. There are often technical defects that are not noticeable to the untrained eye, but greatly affect the quality and wear life of the PM, and the uniformity of pigment release over time. If they are not corrected, then in six months they will become obvious to everyone.

What absolutely should not be done

There are prohibitions that cannot be carried out immediately after tattooing:

  • on the first day after the procedure, you should not swim or wet your eyes;
  • While the tissue is healing, you should not apply cosmetics, as it can spread into the damaged skin of the eyelids, causing bacterial infection;
  • minimize physical activity and sports while the damaged tissues are being restored;
  • You should not visit the bathhouse, sauna, or sunbathe under the bright sun, as this can cause bleeding and inflammation of the affected area;
  • Do not apply alcohol-based products, as this will cause skin irritation;
  • It is forbidden to touch your eyelids without first disinfecting your hands.

The first time after the procedure, the patient will experience discomfort in the eyelid area, itching, burning, and pain. The skin may peel or crack. These are not scary phenomena. Symptoms can be corrected with the help of painkillers and moisturizing ointments.

How to eliminate itching in the eyebrow area

If your eyebrows itch after the procedure, this is a normal reaction. Minor damage, such as a scratch, itches when it crusts over. Same with eyebrows. But if the itching is unbearable and does not subside within two days, this is an allergy or hypersensitivity. The doctor will make an accurate diagnosis.

It is not necessary to give up permanent makeup if adding pigment simply irritates the skin. The period of survival of the dye is facilitated by allergy pills: Loratadine, Suprastin, Zyrtec.

Unfortunately, if the doctor determines that you are allergic to the pigment, you will have to remove the paint from the skin with a laser. Otherwise, the irritation will not disappear, but will intensify over time and cause complications, such as Quincke's edema.

Answers to frequently asked questions

When can you wash your face after eyelid tattooing?

You should not wash your face only on the first day after the procedure. If no adverse reactions occur, washing with water is allowed from day 2.

Answers to frequently asked questions
Do I need to use antibiotics to prevent an infection?

Antibacterial agents are required to be used. Systemic drugs in the form of tablets and suspensions are not used. Only topical antibiotics are used in the form of an ointment. For example, Erythromycin or Tetracycline ointment.

How to choose the type of tattoo?

The choice of variety depends on the taste preferences of the patient. You can consult with a cosmetologist who will suggest the most optimal option.

Do I need to take hydrocortisone-based medications to prevent pigment rejection?

No, you shouldn't do this. Such use of the drug will affect the entire body as a whole, which will lead to the formation of adverse reactions. Only topical hydrocortisone ointment is used and applied only to the eyelids.

What to do if your eyes are very sore or festered?

In this case, you must immediately apply an antibacterial agent and immediately consult an ophthalmologist. Getting bacteria under the skin can cause inflammation to spread throughout the eyelids. Drug therapy is carried out immediately after visiting a doctor.

Decorative cosmetics

Care after the permanent makeup procedure involves a complete refusal of cosmetics during the healing period. Scrubs, peelings, and masks should not be applied to inflamed skin treated with an antiseptic. Use tonics and micellar water. You can dye your eyebrows after healing, but if your permanent eyebrow makeup has been properly maintained, this will not be necessary.

You are allowed to paint your lips or eyes only one month after the procedure. Otherwise, inflammation will occur and the result will be ruined.

Negative consequences

If you apply makeup before the time specified by the cosmetologist, there is always a negative chance of negative consequences occurring after the visit. However, violation of the instructions for caring for damaged epithelial cells leads to the fact that the woman automatically relieves the specialist of responsibility for the quality of styling.

However, such factors and their combination can lead to irreversible negative consequences. They are reflected in changes in the visual effect and health status of the woman:

  1. Premature mechanical removal or separation of the protective layer from the girl’s epidermis. The consequence of this is a set of criteria, since this indicator is prohibited during tissue healing. This may cause infection or other foreign bodies to enter the blood or lymph fluid. This parameter leads to the launch of inflammatory processes in the female body. This follows a deterioration in quantitative criteria - durability and preservation of the color scheme of the specialist’s work.
  2. Irritation or the appearance of an allergic reaction to the drugs used or worsening of the allergy to the dye that was injected into the epithelial cells for applying styling. And this leads to irritation, itching, redness of the eyelid tattoo area and other factors.
  3. Changing the color scheme of the work. The shades of the completed tattoo work may change for the worse. The initially chosen tone may acquire other tints that spoil the aesthetic quality of the master’s work. However, too dark a pigment tone does not become a negative consequence immediately after the procedure, since during the rehabilitation period it loses a significant part of its color.
  4. Blurred boundaries and contour of eyelid tattoo. When styling arrows or shading, it is most important to carefully preserve the shape that was initially selected and approved by the customer. And if a girl puts on makeup when she shouldn’t, the shape may change for the worse, which will force her to remove permanent eyelid makeup.

Such negative consequences often occur in combination, which leads to a total change in the draft version that was selected at the beginning of the visit to cosmetology.

If you do not want to get negative consequences after the rehabilitation period after visiting a cosmetic center, you should be careful about how much you should not wear makeup. In particular, compliance with this parameter plays an important role when tattooing the eyelids.
