Types and subtypes of false eyelashes

The two main types are continuous eyelash tape and bunches. The question of which is better and more convenient is so controversial that even makeup artists cannot agree among themselves on this matter.

Eyelash tape:

• quick and easy - stick it and forget it;
• symmetrical result;
• If handled with care, lasts for several uses;
• BUT: the first time it can be difficult to figure out how to evenly glue and cut the tape if it is longer than necessary.

Bundles:

There are nodular and nodular. The first ones are easier to glue. The second (knotless) are collected on a small ribbon, which is fixed only to the eyelash edge. There are no such restrictions with nodular ones, they can be moved higher / lower / fill the interlash space, they better imitate natural ones. Ideal for novice users.

How to glue false eyelashes

1) Pick up the eyelash strip with tweezers, always from the outer corner! Do not touch the hairs themselves, but if this happens and they stick out, carefully cut or shorten the base. You cannot trim from the inner corner; it will turn out unnatural and ugly.

2) Stretch and soften the tape, as if sending a wave along it - like along a tightrope in training. For those who still don’t train for some strange reason, we’ll show you :) It’s done like this:

It’s important to remember here: the eyelid is a sphere. It will be more convenient to glue and wear false eyelashes if we give them a spherical shape in advance. (This is especially true for budget false eyelashes - they are often too stiff.)

3) Trying on. It is important. Align the center of the eyelash band with the middle of the eyelid (for most people, this place is above the pupil :)). During the fitting process, it will become clear where the outer tip goes. If the base is a bit long, cut it (don’t forget: only from the outer edge!). You can also shorten the eyelashes themselves. True, to avoid creating an even “fence,” professionals advise thinning them out. And another anti-crisis life hack: if the false eyelashes are the same length, and their base is clearly too long for you, by cutting the tape in half, you can get two instead of one pair. It's a small thing, but nice.

4) Apply glue to the eyelash band and count to five so that it has time to thicken a little. The ones that come with MUFE false eyelashes set quickly, others may take a little longer.

5) Apply the eyelashes to the eyelid in the same way as when trying on - starting from the center and moving to the outer and inner corners of the eyes. Wait a few seconds for the glue to set - you can press the tape with the tip of a brush or the back of tweezers (not sharp ones!). By the way, at this moment, before complete seizure has occurred, you can correct what clearly “went wrong.” If the ends come off, they can be glued. The small Make Up For Ever spatula is ideal for this. It’s difficult to come up with an alternative: a cotton swab is too big, and wielding something sharp like a needle is dangerous.

7) Using your fingers and a brush, fluff and blend the false eyelashes into your own. This way you will avoid the effect when your own eyelashes stick out straight, and false (upper) eyelashes are openly open. Start from the inner corner of the eye.

Features of gluing beams

Add beams one at a time - first on one eye, then on the other eye. If you get carried away and completely “process” one, it will be difficult to symmetrically repeat the same thing on the second. Evgeniy suggests first placing the key points - the outer corner and the center, and then filling the space between them.

How to remove false eyelashes

The most important thing is to start the removal process from the outer corner of the eye and try to pick up exactly the base of the eyelash band. The movement should be smooth so as not to accidentally lose your own eyelashes. If yours and someone else's accidentally stick together, apply a cotton swab moistened with eye makeup remover to the “adhesion point.”

Common mistakes, or what not to do

• Apply false eyelashes to a closed eye. In this state, the line of the eyelash edge is not stretched, and you cannot see the location of your own eyelashes. When you open it, you will probably be greeted with a different result than you expected. Keeping your eyes open throughout the entire process is a major challenge, but it can be learned.

• Draw arrows when the eyelashes are already glued. This way you won’t paint over the space between eyelashes, and the border between yours and the pasted ones will inevitably be visible. Therefore, this very space will have to be painted over from the very beginning. The tip of the arrow, on the contrary, can be completed later: it is difficult to remember exactly how the tape will be directed even during fitting.

• Glue false eyelashes under your own. They should be above, not below. There is no need to apply glue below your eyelashes.

• With drooping corners of the eyes, follow your own eyelash contour. The outer tip must be raised a little. Shade the border between yours and “strangers” with an arrow.

Which false eyelashes to choose?

There are some tricks here. The main criterion is the shape of your face.

• If you have a heavy chin and wide cheekbones (a “square” or “pear” type face), choose the light version, where the false eyelashes are not too thick and more or less even. For example, these:
