With cataracts, excess Kapha accumulates in the lens and a situation is created in which Pitta disturbs Kapha in the lens. Excess Tejas (subtle psychic energy) leads to the combustion of Ojas (vital force) in the lenses of the eyes, and Kapha, accumulating in them, makes them cloudy, opaque and impenetrable to light. Shiny eyes, good vision, liveliness of the eyes indicate a balanced Alochaka-Pitta. Imbalance leads to poor vision and eye diseases. Emotions such as anger, malice, hatred lead to a deterioration in the condition of Alochaka Pitt. Eye irritation can also be caused by dryness of the mucous membrane of the eyes due to excess Vata, or increased acidity due to excess Pitta. Additionally, since the eyes are closely related to the liver, excessive accumulation or stagnation of Pitta in the liver may cause irritation.

Since eye problems are often caused by an imbalance of Alochaka Pitta (a sub-dosha of Pitta, responsible for the normal functioning of the eyes and located in the head), cooling the head by any means works well - even washing the hair with cooling herbs.

Improving the state of vision (including destruction of the vitreous body) is a complete restructuring and improvement of metabolic processes in the body, only in this case the body will be able to deal with such insignificant things from the point of view of survival as opacities in the vitreous body.

Rose water for vision

Rinsing your eyes with a rose water solution will quickly relieve any irritation. Daredevils use undiluted rose water, sold in Ayurvedic stores and Asian grocery stores. For inflamed eyes, it is recommended to prepare a powder: take a turmeric root, insert this root into a large lemon (after making a hole in advance). After 2 weeks, remove the root soaked in lemon juice, dry it and finely grind it. Lift the eyelid of the inflamed eye and put the powder there, rubbing it gently. They promise that in 2 days the eyes will return to normal. As a quick fix, without waiting 2 weeks, for inflamed eyes, they recommend the same turmeric powder - apply a paste (water-based) to the mucous membrane of the eye. Leave for 30 minutes, rinse with warm water. You can put napkins soaked in turmeric solution on your eyes and go to sleep with them.

Ayurveda about eye diseases

Ayurveda about cataracts. For cataracts (in an old form), only surgical removal helps. For cataracts, Ayurveda recommends very hot compositions. Since glaucoma can be a consequence of various diseases, it would be good to determine which ones. This could be diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol. If you have glaucoma, heavy lifting and strenuous exercise are not recommended. When performing Yoga Asanas, avoid inverted poses such as Headstand or Shoulderstand.

Ayurvedic eye drops: “Isotine”, “I-Fit”, “Nidco-NoL”. Some of the drops create a strong burning sensation and, as a result, abundant hydration of the cornea. Baths and hirudotherapy

A short-term effect during exacerbations of glaucoma can be provided by distraction therapy - hot foot baths, saline laxatives, etc. These methods are widely used only in the treatment of an acute attack of glaucoma (see below).

Foot baths, due to thermal stimulation of the skin receptors of the lower extremities, contribute (reflexively) to improving blood supply to the brain. The water temperature should be 35–38 °C, the duration of the procedure should be 15–20 minutes. Baths are contraindicated if the patient with glaucoma has a high sensitivity to many physical factors that cause changes in intraocular pressure.

Another way to treat the disease is hirudotherapy. During an acute attack of glaucoma, leeches (from one to three) are placed on the temple area on the affected side - the effect can last for several hours.

The use of medicinal leeches is a very old and effective method of treatment, almost universally forgotten these days, and completely undeservedly. It has long been used in the treatment of eye diseases (in particular, inflammatory ones), but primarily, of course, glaucoma.

The leech secretes a special enzyme - hirudin, which reduces blood clotting. In addition, this substance has a rather complex effect on the human body, which is still not fully understood.

The hypotensive effect of hirudotherapy lasts for several hours, which can be explained not by the pumping out of some relatively small volume of blood, but by the active biological effect of hirudin.

This is how an attack is often stopped. And if the procedures are not stopped even after the patient’s condition returns to normal (once a week, 4–5 procedures per course), a decrease in repeated attacks and other complications is noted.

The technique for placing medicinal leeches is very simple. A test tube containing a leech is placed in the right place on a cleanly washed area of ​​skin (this is important: leeches cannot tolerate any foreign odors) with the head part facing the exit.

The leech attaches itself and does not fall off until it is completely saturated (usually this takes about an hour). After the leech has fallen off, a wound remains on the skin, which can bleed slightly for up to 12 hours; this is normal and is due to the action of hirudin. The wound is covered with a sterile napkin, which is changed the next day. Quite rarely, skin itching may occur in the area of ​​the bite. Lubricating with 10% alcohol tincture of propolis helps greatly.

Leeches can be stored in a glass jar with regular tap water for three to six months.

You just need to remember that hirudotherapy also has its contraindications. These include:

• low blood pressure;

• pustular skin diseases.

In addition, it is important to know that immediately after the procedure you should not take hot or even warm general baths. It is recommended to refrain from baths throughout the entire course of hirudotherapy, replacing them with rubdowns.
