Medicinal principle of treatment
In the initial stage of the disease, it is advisable to use conservative treatment methods. Through this therapy, transient clouding of the entire thickness of the lens substance is prevented. In these cases, the ophthalmologist prescribes the use of complex eye drops containing a complex of vitamins that have a beneficial effect on the visual system. They contain amino acids, antioxidants, potassium iodide, glutamine, ascorbic acid, inorganic salts, cysteine, as well as a complex of trace elements and vitamins (this can be Oftan-Katachrome, Quinax, Taufon).
The specialist may also prescribe medications in the form of tablets. Effective drugs include the following:
- Lutein-Complex. This drug is indicated for decreased visual acuity due to prolonged stress on the visual organ, as well as for dystrophic changes in the retina, cataracts, glaucoma, and night blindness. The composition includes a complex of vitamins and biologically active substances: copper, selenium, zinc, blueberry extract, lutein.
- Okuwait Lutein is prescribed for age-related changes in the organs of vision, as well as for increased stress on the eyes. The drug improves metabolic processes in eye tissues, reduces the likelihood of macular degeneration, and protects against cataracts. Contains: vitamins C, E, selenium, lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc oxide.
- Vitalux Plus is an excellent tool for the prevention of eye diseases. Prescribed as a vitamin and mineral food supplement. Contains vitamins E and C, omega-3 acids, lutein, multivitamins.
Unfortunately, patients are not always satisfied with the results obtained after treatment. If the causes of the disease are identified in a timely manner and complex therapy is carried out, it is possible to stop the progression and stop the degradation of the lens.
You should always remember that cataracts are a progressive and irreversible process. Drug treatment can only alleviate the patient’s condition and temporarily stop the development of the disease. The original transparency of the lens is not restored. Timely contact with a specialist greatly helps preserve vision.
If vision deteriorates despite drug therapy, and the symptoms of the disease are even more disturbing, then in this case the only rational solution is surgery to remove cataracts.
Nutrition for cataracts
If you have eye cataracts, it is important to eat right. A cataract diet should contain a variety of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. These foods provide nutrition to the eyes.
It is necessary to drink a lot of clean water, at least 8–10 per day, but tea, coffee and other drinks do not count. According to scientists, cataracts develop due to dehydration of the lens. This happens if the patient’s diet is not varied, there are not enough fruits and vegetables in the diet, including vitamins.
Recommended products containing:
- vitamins of group A - cheeses, sour cream, butter, cottage cheese, feta cheese, seaweed, broccoli, oysters, liver, sweet potato, garlic;
- vitamins of group C – citrus fruits, papaya, broccoli, green bell pepper, melon, kiwi, strawberries, currants, tomatoes, horseradish;
- vitamins of group E - sunflower seeds and oil, peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, sea buckthorn, walnuts, spinach, sorrel, rose hips, viburnum, porridge;
- lutein and zeaxanthin are antioxidants and carotenoids. This complex effectively protects the eyes from inflammatory processes and degenerative changes. They are found in green and leafy vegetables. But these components are found in colored fruits and vegetables. Such as peas, tangerines, corn, broccoli, persimmons, yellow peppers and carrots.
Eating healthy foods containing lutein, zeaxanthin and vitamins will help maintain eye health.
Surgical method
After diagnosis, the ophthalmologist may prescribe surgery. This is necessary in cases where vision becomes worse, despite all measures taken, visual acuity decreases. The patient cannot lead a full life, which most often results in the inability to continue his work activity. Discomfort appears when performing basic actions.
To determine the indications for surgical removal of cataracts, the stage of its maturity has absolutely no significance. Cataract surgery is considered practically futile only in cases of complete loss of vision.
Sidorenko glasses
For several years now, patients have been interested in progressive methods that will cure cataracts without surgery. Today such a method exists - Sidorenko glasses. First of all, it is an excellent preventive remedy that helps improve vision functions. It is also used to have a beneficial effect on the appearance of the eyes.
Glasses help strengthen the skin of the eyelids and eliminate small wrinkles around. The action of this device is based on a soft vacuum massage of the eyes and surrounding tissues, which as a result stimulates blood microcirculation processes and activates the metabolic processes of the eyes and the areas around them. “Sidorenko glasses” are recommended for use by adults and children over 3 years of age.
This is an innovative device that looks like safety swimming goggles. Traditional glasses in Sidorenko's glasses are replaced by mini-pressure chambers that tightly cover the eye sockets when put on. The therapeutic and healing effect is based on the effect of low-intensity vacuum pressure (range - 0.05-0.1 atm, frequency - 3-4 Hz) on the tissues of the eye and the muscles located next to them.
The device helps supply the eyes with the necessary nutrients, restore vision, and improve the condition of the skin of the eyelids and areas around the eyes. Already after the first session, noticeable improvements can be noted: swelling decreases, previously annoying headaches that arose as a result of eye strain disappear, and the skin in the eye area noticeably smoothes out.
The use of “Sidorenko Glasses” is characterized by a number of positive effects:
- Metabolic processes are activated
- Increases blood circulation
- The processes of outflow of ocular fluid are activated
- The production of nucleoproteins increases
- Reduces congestion in veins
- Potassium content decreases
- Enzyme activity is activated
- Scars dissolve
- Protein synthesis is enhanced
- Tissues are saturated with oxygen
- The processes of glucose utilization are accelerated.
The pulsating light emitted by “Sidorenko Glasses” is capable of causing reflex dilation and subsequent constriction of the pupils, which allows you to relieve spasms of accommodation and increase the strength of the accommodative muscle. Rhythmic muscle contraction activates eye nutrition, removes congestion, and stimulates the outflow of fluid inside the eye.
Exercise for cataracts
Non-surgical cataract treatment will be more effective if you include exercises that will help improve your vision. Gymnastics for the eyes for cataracts allows them to be toned.
In case of retinal detachment, charging is contraindicated.
Even healthy eyes need rest. It is necessary to systematically do special exercises.
- Place two index fingers in front of your face and fix your gaze on them. Slowly move your fingers to the side and watch them with your peripheral vision.
- Rotate your eyes clockwise and then counterclockwise.
- Move your eyes from left to right and back.
- A few minutes, blink quickly.
- Imagine a clock in front of you. Do exercises, move your eyes diagonally from ten to four and back.
- We complete the exercises by stroking the eyelids. Stroking should be done with a light movement from the inner corners to the outer ones and vice versa. Close your eyes and sit quietly for a few minutes - the exercise is over.
All these exercises must be performed every day, 12 times each.
Eye exercises strengthen the muscles inside the eye. Any exercises for cataracts that you choose for yourself will be effective and beneficial.
Pankov's glasses
Pankov glasses are a unique portable device created for the treatment and prevention of a number of ophthalmological diseases. The frame of the device is equipped with LED emitters, which, in turn, are controlled by microprocessor controllers. Using Pankov glasses, you can effectively treat cataracts, retinal dystrophy, progressive myopia, astigmatism, and optic nerve atrophy.
The operation of the device is based on the principles of low-intensity radiation, which can cleanse tissue and activate microcirculation processes. Vision functions improve significantly after just a few sessions. In addition, the use of Pankov glasses helps improve the general condition of the body, reduces headaches, and helps restore sleep.
Pankov's glasses are recommended for preventive purposes for those whose work requires long periods of time in front of a PC monitor and who often strain their vision. This device can be used either independently or as part of complex therapy, as one of the elements of treatment, especially in cases where the disease is in an advanced stage.
Treatment with traditional methods
Traditional recipes for the treatment of cataracts can be used only at the beginning of the development of the disease. This treatment takes longer than with other, more modern and technological methods. In this case, the main condition must be met: eye drops made according to folk recipes must be fresh - no more than 1-2 days. As such folk remedies, you can use: aloe juice with honey, woodlice herb, potato sprouts, eyebright herb, blueberry juice, etc.

Causes and symptoms
There are many reasons that contribute to the development of cataracts:
- age (over the years, the body’s ability to resist toxins coming from the external environment decreases, and the level of natural antioxidants also decreases);
- diabetes mellitus (leads to the development of diabetic cataracts);
- smoking;
- alcohol abuse;
- eye injuries;
- taking medications belonging to the group of corticosteroids;
- prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays on the eyeball;
- severe infections (typhoid, malaria, smallpox);
- anemia;
- poisoning of the body with toxic substances;
- eye diseases;
- some skin diseases (eczema, scleroderma, neurodermatitis);
- eye burns;
- high myopia.

Cataracts can also be caused by a hereditary factor.
The most common symptom of the disease is decreased visual acuity. But such a symptom does not always appear: in the initial stage of cataracts, vision may remain high. It depends on where the clouding of the lens occurred - at the periphery or in the center.
If cataracts develop in the periphery, then visual acuity remains unchanged and only an ophthalmologist can detect the disease. But if clouding of the lens occurs in the center, then the patient himself will notice problems with his vision.

Other symptoms of cataracts:
- unclear vision of objects, blurred outlines;
- split images;
- change in the color of the pupil (yellowish, grayish and even white);
- decrease or increase in photosensitivity;
- strabismus, “white pupil”, lack of reaction to movement (with congenital cataracts).
